    Why CLAT is the Biggest Exam for LAW In India?

    Introduction

    The Common-Law Admission Test or CLAT is a national-level entrance exam. This CLAT exam is conducted every year by the Consortium of NLUs. Law aspirants who want to pursue a five-year integrated LLB, for instance, BBA LLB, BA LLB, B.Com LLB, BSc LLB, LLM, etc., need to appear for this exam. After clearing the CLAT exam, aspirants can apply to top law colleges in India and National Law Universities (NLUs).

    5 Reasons to Consider CLAT as the Biggest LAW exam in India

    The five most important reasons to consider the CLAT exam as the most significant LAW exam in India are below:

    • Admission in top NLUs in India: CLAT is the sole law exam in India that allows students to pursue law courses in National Law Universities. Currently, in India, there are 23 NLUs, and out of all, 22 NLU accept CLAT exam scores to conduct law admission in various courses.
    • Admission to a top private law college: Apart from 22 NLUs that accept CLAT scores for law admissions, many top private colleges in India offer admission based on CLAT scores. Many private colleges sign an MoU with the CLAT consortium to reserve seats for CLAT aspirants.
    • Recruitment in top companies: Aspirants gain placement access in top companies once they enrol in law courses in the NLUs top law colleges in India. Per reports, once the NLU students get placements in leading companies, they can earn INR 4- INR 12 lakhs per annum as their starting salary. Few law firms that seek recruitment in NLU placement are the following: Argus Partners, AZB & Partners, Khaitan & Co, Fox Mandal & Associates, ICICI Bank, Tata Sons Ltd, Times of India, Star Bank, Ernst, and Young, etc.
    • CLAT score helps in PSU recruitment: CLAT scores benefit LLB and LLM admissions and assist in recruitment at Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). CLAT LLM holders access the opportunity to work in a legal position at top PSUs, for instance, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), etc.
    • Good start to flourish career in law: Towards starting a fantastic career in law, appearing in the CLAT is considered the first step. Students can appear in this exam after completing 12th. Once graduated with a law degree, multiple opportunities open up for the students. Some excellent career paths are the following:
    • PSU Recruitment: To secure a job in the PSU sector in the law department, clearing CLAT is mandatory.
    • Higher Education: If the student aims to pursue higher education in Law from reputed NLUs, they must clear CLAT.
    • Reputed Jobs: Students can get a job as legal advisors, company secretaries, corporate law practitioners, etc., once they clear CLAT and pursue their career in law.
    • Civil Services: Students can also prepare for the Civil Services exam and seek a career in India Legal Services or Civil Services.
